Aunt Cindy Visits

Aunt Cindy came to visit last week. It was the first time she has met Savanah and I think the last time she saw Mikara she was only 23 months old. The girls fell in love with her! Aunt Cindy played little people, painted the girls toes and fingers, played puzzles and LISTENED to EVERYTHING Mikara told her!!! She is now updated on all the new cartoons, the characters and the toys! She is set and ready for Grandmother-hood!

Putt Putt/Family Movie Night

Saturday night we took the girls to play Putt Putt. It was really fun! The girls loved it and both did really good. On the 16th hole I was helping Savanah put her hands on the club so she could hit her ball and she looked up at me and said " Mommy I very hot!" I told her its ok we are almost done and to hit her ball. So she did and we went to the next hole. Then I was helping her again and she looked up at me and said "Mommy I hooottt!" It was as if she was really trying to say.....why are you making me do this mommy I'm soo hot!! It was so funny. I asked if she wanted to be done and she said yes so she picked her ball up and put in in the hole ha!

Then Sunday night we had Family Movie Night! We watched 101 Dalmations 2. It was a cute movie and the girls liked it. We move the coffee table and pile blankets and pillows on the floor and have popcorn (and always a surprise in the popcorn)

The 4th of July

Every year as I stare at the fireworks I always feel emotional inside. It makes me always think of my childhood summers, how happy I am with my family now and of my Aunt Linda.

It makes me miss my childhood of fun with all of my cousins. Cookouts at Aunt Linda's house, sparklers in the field and catching lighting bugs. Staying up until all hours of the night playing outside. It was so much fun.

It also makes me want to burst with happiness because I could not ask for a better life. With my beautiful, funny girls and my wonderful husband I feel like I have everything there is in life.

Then there is the memory of Aunt Linda. She passed away from cancer on the 4th of July in 2001. 10 years!!! I can't believe I haven't seen or heard her voice for 10 years!! It makes me sooo sad that she will never know my girls and that they will never know her.I know how much she wanted that. I remember when she found out she was sick and she told me that she was scared that she would not be here to see me get married and hold my babies. And now I can only fill my girls with stories of my memories.....so many that include her.  Since it is up to me, they will feel like they knew her. I will make them be able to feel the rocks from the patio on their feet, smell the smells of the flowers around her house and know the fun we always had at their house. 

Our 4th of July now is so different but still so great! We swim, cookout, light our own "little" fireworks and go downtown for ice creams, coffee and 'big' fireworks. I'm looking forward to more fun as the girls grow. Maybe one day our girls will look back and be excited to tell their children all about how we spent the 4th as a family too.

Our June - The month of Beginnings and Ends!!

June was such a fun filled month! The month started off with school coming to a close. Mikara's first year of preschool ended with water day, Summer birthday parties, and an end of year party. She had such a wonderful class, wonderful teachers and grew so much in the past nine months. We are so proud of her especially from the first day of school crying so hard when we left her to smiling the last day of school because of how much fun she had all year long. School changed her confidence level so much. I really couldn't have asked for a better preschool experience for her. 

June also began swim lessons. Gordon and I were very consistant with teaching the girls to swim. Mikara is now swimming underwater! She is also swimming the length of the pool. Savanah is wearing her life jacket and learning to swim but is an excellent floater, puts her entire head under the water on her own and jumps in off of the step! We are again so proud of our little swimmers. 

June might have ended the school year but it has began our new Summer schedule. We have our weekly playdates with our friends, Siblings Class at My Gym and Gymnastics/Cheer. Our weeks have been full of so much fun!

The best thing about June was that Angie, Evan and Jaden came for a visit! It was so much fun. I love them so much and enjoyed every minute of their visit. The kids played together from the second they woke up to the second they fell asleep. They are all getting so big. Even Savanah was really able to hang out and play on their level this time. Angie, Mom and I had a lot of downtime together with the kids playing more independently this time. 

I can't believe the month is over. It went really fast! Looking forward to another fun filled pool, beach, popcicle kind of month!!
